Why are Sports Important for the Youth of America?
Sports are a natural stress reliever
Exercise is a great way for kids to loosen up and let go. Instead of taking frustrations out on siblings at home, they can let off some steam on the field or court. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine
Sports help our youth develop healthy lifestyle habits
Regular physical activity improves a child’s fitness and helps them to stay in shape. Starting at a young age creates lifelong habits. It trains kids to enjoy exercise instead of dread it. In 2019 the prevalence of obesity was 18.5% and affected about 13.7 million children and adolescents. With statistics like that we as parents NEED to get our kids exercising in a way that they actually enjoy. If they enjoy it they will stick with it!
